Larry Cassidy is confident of riding at subsequent month’s Magic Thousands and thousands meeting at the Gold Coast after succumbing to rib injuries which have ruled him out of action for the next 4 weeks.

Cassidy sustained rib cartilage hurt when involved in a four-horse drop at Doomben 8 times back which also sidelined apprentice Priscilla Schmidt for 4 months with a broken leg.

Schmidt will have surgery on Monday to have a plate inserted in her leg.

Cassidy had 5 rides at Ipswich on Friday and 5 at Doomben on Saturday such as star sprinter Havatryst in the Group 3 George Moore Stakes.

Trainer Barry Baldwin will wait around until race early morning just before booking a alternative for Cassidy but Scott Galloway is favoured to take above on Havatryst in the 1200-metre characteristic.

“The proprietors want to wait around right up until race morning to see who might grow to be accessible if you will find scratchings but if not I favour putting Scott Galloway on,” Baldwin stated.

Baldwin was compelled to freshen up Havatryst after he damage his off-foreleg following his win at Doomben on November 5.

The son of Foreplay was dealt with extensively with antibiotics for 10 days after the setback, which ruled him out of the Outlined Keith Noud Quality (1200m) at Eagle Farm.

Baldwin is not excessively involved with a hefty track score for Havatryst who has won on a gradual track.

“He is won on a sluggish and ran a great race on a very damp track in the Gold Coast Guineas so I will not assume he’ll have a difficulty on a large,” Baldwin said.

“I’d desire him on leading of the ground but he’s obtained the rails which is a huge help.”

Cassidy, who had two rides at Eagle Farm on Wednesday, programs to consider up to 4 weeks to recover from his soreness.

“I slept on a challenging mattress on the bedroom floor final night to ease the pain a little,” Cassidy stated.

“I’d be kidding myself if I tried to journey now even though the ribs are so sore.

“If I preserve riding it will only prolong the issue further and I need to get it correct.”

Cassidy felt more soreness getting ready in the jockeys’ area for his two mounts on Wednesday than riding at the meeting.

“Riding was not also negative but preparing in the place just before the races was hard. I felt the ache a lot more bending over and picking up gear,” he stated.

“I am going to consider a month off and rest up but I am aiming to be fully suit ahead of the Magic Thousands and thousands.”

Cassidy is dissatisfied to miss the mount on Havatryst.

“It’s an even race and I believe he is a really great likelihood,” he said.
