Frankel fine after Goodwood outing

Frankel is reported to have come out of his Sussex Stakes romp with flying colours and is firmly on program for the Juddmonte International at York later on this month.

The unbeaten superstar took his winning run to twelve at Goodwood as he repeated his victory of last yr in the Group One mile (1600m).

Sir Henry Cecil’s colt will now step up to a mile and a quarter for the very first time on August 22, in a race sponsored by his proprietor, Khalid Abdullah.

“I was delighted with Frankel on Wednesday in the Sussex Stakes,” Cecil said on his internet site.

“He has grown up a great deal mentally and took it all like a correct specialist

“The concept was to be as easy as we could with him as it was a warm-up to the Juddmonte Global at York. He seems to have come out of yesterday’s race genuinely nicely and is on program for the Knavesmire.”

Followers of Frankel could get to see him in action on September 16, in the Prix du Moulin at Longchamp, prior to he finishes his racing occupation at Ascot in October.

A run in France is not specific, nonetheless.

“He will finish off his racing profession at Ascot on Champions Day in the Champion Stakes or Queen Elizabeth II Stakes,” Cecil stated.

“Whether, with the gap amongst York and Ascot, he contests the Prix du Moulin is questionable.

Possibly it will be helpful top up to Ascot but we will see. Frankel will inform me what course I should consider.”
