The Golden Slipper winner Pierro heads betting on the first Group One race of the new Australian racing season.

In TAB Sportsbet’s opening industry on the Golden Rose, Pierro has been created the $ three favourite for the $ 1 million race.

The Gai Waterhouse-educated colt has earned his place at the best of Golden Rose markets on the back of a 6-start unbeaten two-year-old record.

In spite of starting favourite in just two of these wins, Pierro emerged as Australia’s premier juvenile when he finished Sydney’s two-year-old triple crown with Golden Slipper, Sires’ Make and Champagne Stakes wins.

All As well Challenging, a half-brother to Black Caviar who completed second to Pierro in the Sires’, occupies the up coming line of betting at $ 4.

Blue Diamond Stakes winner Samaready, who commenced favourite in the Golden Slipper just before finishing third, is on the third tier at $ six.

Pierro’s stablemate Kabayan and Patinack Farm’s Nechita are listed as $ 13 odds.

“Not surprisingly, the autumn’s best performers dominate the betting, while Kabayan and Nechita also command respect,” TAB Sportsbet’s Matthew Jenkins said.

Golden Slipper runner-up Snitzerland is on the $ 17 line with winter find Your Song.

Your Song earned a short break just before being ready for the Golden Rose with a decisive Rosehill win final Saturday.

Initial acceptances have been taken this week for the Golden Rose, which will be run above 1400m at Rosehill on September 15.
